In Midtown's glitzy theatre district, Times Square, you'll find Blue, a music-minded social club in the basement of The Ribbon restaurant. The upstairs joint simply overflows with class and character, so it's no surprise that this attention to detail follows as you descend.

Specially commissioned murals by self-professed modern expressionist Alex Yost fill the space with images of New York's musical icons, including Beastie Boys, Biggie, the Ramones, Streisand, and Mariah – all with that trademark touch of blue, of course.

A blanket of twinkling lights covers the ceiling, while below are banks of blue and grey Chesterfields, so there's plenty of space in which to chill with a cocktail – which is just as artfully presented as the surroundings. Meanwhile, the DJ booth sees nightly action, with masters spinning a mix of funk, blues, soul, R&B, rock, and jazz.
